Dark glossy green leaves with a maroon tint form an attractive clump below bright purple coloured flowers in spring/summer. Requires a constant moist soil for best flowering. A beautiful contrast of foliage and flower. The new growth is delightful.
Spires of colorful hood-like flowers on stately spikes in late summer and fall. Likes moist soil. Will naturalize along ditches and streams. Butterflies and hummingbirds like them too. Prefers a moist soil, good cut flower
